One of the many positives of Pickleball is its inclusivity, vis a vis the broad diversity of players. Whilst we've had evidence of this in relation to player's age demographics, there's been gaps in evidence of other demographics that could be used to support our claims. Such evidence is used for various purposes including providing evidence to Councils and other bodies to support bids for a variety of needs including new/improved facilities and funding of targeted programs.
With the rollout by Pickleball Australia of the National Play Well Participation Data Charter, there are a few new questions when registering, which you would only have seen if you're a fairly new member or recently renewed. Collection of this data will enable direct comparisons with other sports going forward to further support evidence of Pickleball's broad inclusivity.
So, we need your help as members to update your member profile here to answer the new questions which are:
- Does this person identify as culturally or linguistically diverse? (Will have 2 other questions if answer 'Yes')
- Does this person identify as LGBTQ+?
- Does this person identify as living with disability, illness or injury? (Will have 2 other questions if answer 'Yes')
These questions are not compulsory and we respect any member's choice not to answer any of them and/or to choose the option "Prefer not to Say".
Be assured that we only ever provide PV member statistics in summary form (aggregated and de-identified). PV has privacy agreements in place in regards to how data is managed (used, collected and disclosed) in accordance with the Pickleball Australia Privacy Policy available on the PA Policies webpage.
