Pickleball Victoria President’s Hello

Welcome to August, everyone! It’s heartwarming to report that memberships for Pickleball Victoria continue to grow, with over 300 new members joining in the past month.

With a committee of just nine dedicated volunteers, we are doing our very best to support you all through our various roles. It’s also terrific to share that Pickleball Australia has appointed Casey Longfield to the team. Casey’s main role will be to provide administrative support here in Victoria, which will be a huge help as we continue to expand. I’m sure you will all join me in welcoming Casey when you have contact with us. Welcome, Casey—it’s wonderful to have a Victorian-based appointee!

Happy Pickling!

Volunteers – Our Unsung Heroes

We all know that our great sport of pickleball simply wouldn’t be possible without our incredible volunteers. If you’ve played in a sanctioned tournament, you’ll understand just how vital referees are in ensuring matches are played fairly, respectfully, and in line with the rules.

This month, we’d like to give a special shout-out to two of our dedicated Victorian referees: Mike and Amanda.

  • Amanda Moo has refereed across three seasons of the NPL, the Australian Open Pickleball Slam, MiLP, Tier 3 State events, and countless Tier 1 and Tier 2 tournaments.

  • Mike Cain has also officiated through three NPL seasons, Tier 3 State events, and many Tier 1 and Tier 2 tournaments.

Both Mike and Amanda have devoted countless hours to our sport. Their commitment, professionalism, and continued growth in their roles have been outstanding, consistently earning positive feedback from players and fellow referees alike. We’re incredibly fortunate to have them in our community.

As we all know, pickleball wouldn’t be the sport it is today without our amazing volunteers. For anyone who has played in a sanctioned tournament, you’ll appreciate just how vital referees are in making sure matches are played fairly, respectfully, and in line with the rules.
